The NCA gets Newtown Singing!
(and tapping its feet)
23rd June. NCA June Tunes in Belmont Park.
12:30 – 2pm bring your own picnic and join in an informal singing workshop. You will learn a couple of really easy songs to sing later.
2 – 4pm Both the Newtown Primary School and Newtown Community Choirs will be singing their own sets, plus a few songs together… and then the whole of Newtown will join in to sing the songs learnt together at the singing picnic workshop. (Well, everyone in Newtown is invited to join in, anyway 🙂
There will also be a fabulous foot-stapping first ever public performance from the new Newtown Roots Band. And a few gypsy tunes from the Hut Club of Newtown.
For further information, if you want to help in any way, or to perform a tune or two yourself, contact 07946 637 782 or email@example.com
If you are able to, please download a copy of the poster above to print and display prominently somewhere in or around Newtown.
The Newtown Roots Band is our latest community initiative.
We’re very lucky to have fabulous local musician and teacher Ali Jones base this fun project in the hut.
It’s aimed at anyone and everyone who wants to play their acoustic instrument with others. Perhaps you already attend sessions in a pub somewhere, or perhaps you feel a little intimidated by such sessions – like you need to be able to play at a high standard or to know the tunes in advance. Either way, the Newtown Roots Band is for you. We’ll be playing a variety of folk from all over the world, including some gypsy jazz. There will be parts for everyone at all levels of ability. If you read a bit that’s fine but it isn’t essential.
All acoustic instruments are welcome. The wider the variety the better.
We’re really looking forward to it. Hope you can join us.
Please spread the word! You can download a flyer here. Print a copy and display it somewhere prominent if you can.
